A Message From Dean Richardson

Dear CLAS Gators,

In the past few weeks, two hurricanes have caused unbelievable hardship across the region. As Hurricane Ian made landfall in Southwest Florida, we were reminded of what’s most important to us: the health and safety of our families and friends. We are thankful that our Gainesville campus was spared from significant damage, but several areas throughout our state were devastated in the storm’s wake.

While clear skies return over the Sunshine State, we know that many are struggling to pick up the pieces. We also continue to keep our neighbors in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands in our thoughts, as they rebuild and recover from damage caused by Hurricane Fiona. Our hearts are with all of those affected by these destructive hurricanes, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni who live in or have loved ones in the affected regions.

The college will continue to work with UF to understand the needs of our students and how we can be most helpful at this time. We are thankful for the members of our CLAS community who support agencies that provide direct relief to those most impacted by the storm. It is more important than ever that we come together in this time of great need. To our Gators dealing with devastation, know that you have our support during this difficult recovery process. The Gator Nation stands with you.

Sincerely,
